If you have seen it, and I know you have seen it. You are probably wondering what is it? If you have ever received a e-mail from anyone, and no recipients were showing, but just the sender it self. or if the senders e-mail was in the To and From and It will say only "undisclosed recipients". if you sourced it. Then you have received a Bcc. This is a very, very useful tool. Not only does it benefit the recipient of the e-mail you are sending too. But it makes everyone a happy little camper. Including yourself. First off. If the mail were to get into the hands of someone looking to spam. None of the addys you mailed to would show up, so they can't mass mail all your buddies. You just would not believe how many people see your address when you mass mail some in your mailing list. Say you send to just 12 in your list. Three in that list, forwards your email to their buddies in their e-mail list. One may just mail to maybe 8, another mails to another 12, and the last mails it out to say 15. That's, 35 people you more than likely do not know, that has your email, along with all your buddies too that you sent that one e-mail too. It adds up very quickly.
Now you know how your addy gets spread around! I use to have the little black box, just like some of you did, and some of you still have it too. Every now and then, I would get a email from someone that I had no clue who they were. This happened maybe five times in eight months that I had the box. I even wrote a few of them, and asked how I got on their list. I had 2 of them tell me, that they just hit the "reply to all" One girl I wrote too, says she copies and paste all the addys into groups in her mails address book. You just wouldn't believe some of their reasons for it. This girl did it simply because she loves to mail to everyone. (ahem) One had no idea how I got in their mail. (duh sure they don't) But really my point to all of this is, If everyone would use this feature all the time, it would sure cut down on a lot of this stuff. And because of the fact that mass mailers are the norm on line, it's a good habit to get into on PC. Hot mail and yahoo have this feature, and im sure others do too.
this is how you do this: Outlook Express the "from" box will be "you", but so will the "To" box. in other words, your e-mail goes in the "to" and "from" areas. all the rest go under Bcc click a name, then click Bcc. Do this for all that you are mailing too. I was told also that under the "To" line you can use a bogus e-mail. But make sure you know it's bogus. But, I have never tried it, I just e-mail myself under the "To" line. With e-mail names being so vast online, it would be my luck that the bogus one would turn out to be legit, and mad! It is very impotant to put a e-mail under the "To" line. Or the Bcc will not work, or so I was told it would not work. You can pratice this in Outlook Express if you have several nics also. For anyone else with a different e-mail program, look for the Bcc, or Blind Carbon Copy. Or search your help files for the directions on how to use it, or to see if the feature is provided. Same If you have a web based e-mail also.
